This piece is an Antique Library Bureau Sole Makers (SoleMakers) 60-Drawer Library Card Catalog (also known as filing catalog, library file, library cabinet, library card file, card catalog cabinet, etc.)
The piece is in great condition and still has its original finish. There is a slight chip on the back of the piece at the top right along the trim. However, since it is on the back, it is not noticeable if the piece is against the wall.
The drawers are made to hold a standard 5” x 3” index card, but can also be used for a variety of items. In the same style of the overall casing, the drawers are dovetailed and are all in working condition. All 60 drawers are in great condition and open smoothly. Each drawer also still has its original brass pull with opening to insert label.
The dimensions for the entire unit are:
Height: 60”
Width: 42.5”
Depth: 16.5”
Whether you are looking for that perfect antique for your home, or just something to use for storage, this piece is for you! In addition to its visual appeal, one of the most common uses for a library card catalog is storage. Some things that you could store in this piece include:
- Bills, Letters, and Postcards
- Craft Supplies
- Kitchen Tools and Supplies
- Office and School Supplies
- Recipes
- Sewing and Knitting Supplies
- Sports Cards
- Tools, Screws, Nuts, and Bolts
- And so much more!
